What are Forever Young fitness classes like?

From Fitsteps to aquaerobics, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust provide group exercise classes designed to help senior and older adults maintain their cardiovascular health, strength and flexibility. Whether you’re a veteran gym member or a newcomer, we welcome you to come enjoy the benefits of working out in a group.

Forever Young Fitness Classes:

FOREVER YOUNG FIT BODY

An invigorating blend of exercise to music routines to improve both movement and flexibility, designed for older adults.

SENIOR FLEX

A fun and effective class for our more mature clients which aims to maintain/improve fitness, joint mobility and muscle tone.

FITNESS RENGENERATION

Racquet sport, fitness and fun instructor lead session purely for the young at heart.

Studies have shown that tai chi can help people aged 65 and over to reduce stress, improve balance and general mobility, and increase muscle strength in the legs.

AQUAEROBICS

Fun & freestyle water based Aerobics choreographed to great music.

It’s an excellent cardio workout that’s all about fun – even if your dance challenged.

PILATES

Developed more than 70 years ago By Joseph Pilates. Pilates is a non-impact class that emphasises breathing and spinal and pelvic alignment while addressing the muscular imbalances and postural problems that result from daily life. Pilates increases flexibility, joint mobility and coordination while challenging core muscles (back & abdominal). Increasing core strength and stability has been shown to improve performance in other sports (running, boxing, skating, etc.) and enhance life by making daily activities easier.

YOGA

Yoga is a form of exericise that uses slow movements and stretching. It is good for increasing flexibility and balance. It is also good for relieving stress and relaxing. Yoga has been used as a meditation technique for thousands of years.  As you exercise, you meditate on what your body is feeling and try to be "one with the universe”

TAI CHI

Tai chi, also called tai chi chuan, combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements. Originally developed as a martial art in 13th-century China, tai chi is today practiced around the world as a health-promoting exercise.

Studies have shown that tai chi can help people aged 65 and over to reduce stress, improve balance and general mobility, and increase muscle strength in the legs.

BODY BALANCE

BodyBALANCE is the yoga, tai chi, pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centred and calm. Controlled breating, concentration and a carefully structured sesries of stretched, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.

BALLROOM DANCING

Whether you're going to a charity ball, a company party, a wedding, hanging out with some friends or even to impress that special someone, you will find the confidence here to get you moving and groovin' on the dance floor, in no time.

HYDROSPIN

Hydrospin is a class that combines the dynamism of indoor cycling with the benefits of being water based exercise.  Using our brand new Hydrorider Aquabikes you will target large muscle groups and improve you cardiovascular performance.  The properties of the water reduces discomfort and sweating. The water also offers support making this the perfect class to rehabilitate post injury. The buoyancy of the water gives support around the joints which makes this class low risk but high intensity.  It means that Hydrospin can be enjoyed by and accessed by everyone regardless of their fitness level.

LINE DANCING

Learn some fun Line Dances or just come for the great exercise. Our  We play Great Music of all the Genres like Country, Top 40, Ballroom, Blues, Irish, and much more. You never need a partner but you can bring all your friends and have a lot of fun. Plus you get exercise without realizing you are actually excercising.

TOTAL GYM

Adjustable pulley system over eight levels of incline that allows unlimited forces and movement patterns. Gravity is time and cost efficient as well as effective. It's a full-body strength workout in a semi-private setting. Think modified personal traiing at a fraction of the cost.

HOOP CAMP

Traditional circuit based class with a bit of a twist. Have fun with the long forgotten childhood pastime - the hula hoop! A great tone-up trick that's spot on trend and fantastic fun for everyone!

BODY PUMP

BodyPUMP is the original barbell class that will sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body, fast! Focusing on low weight loads and high repitition movements, you'll burn fat, gain strength and change your body shape for the better.
