As the temperature rises, Fife’s youngsters are being offered an unbeatable offer to cool down with free swimming across the region.
We are making available our Splash-out-for-Nowt scheme thanks to extra funding from Fife Council. The offer gives juniors, aged 17 and under, the opportunity to swim for free in the school summer holidays, Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm.
The Council funding also means we will be able to deliver our Quid-a-Kid programme which allows juniors to play racquet sports for just £1 during school holidays. The Quid-a-Kid offering also extends to dry-side and wet-side junior activities to operate on Saturdays and Sundays all day throughout the year.
Both family-popular schemes are available in our facilities across the region and are designed to get more young people active more of the time.
In addition, we’re running a range of kids’ camps and programmes to keep youngsters active during the holidays – participants can enjoy a range of sports in and out of the water.
Ed Watson, Chief Executive of Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We are very pleased to be in a position to be able to maintain Splash-out-for-Nowt and Quid-a-Kid – initiatives which are at the heart of the organisation’s drive to engage more young people with physical activity at an early age to encourage a lifelong interest in staying active.
“We would encourage as many young people and families to visit the Trust’s facilities during the summer holidays to experience the choice and quality of programmes and facilities on offer.”
Councillor Judy Hamilton, Convenor of the Community and Housing Services Committee said:
“Fife Council is committed to creating opportunities for families in the school holidays, which can be very long and financially difficult for many families. Splash-out-for-Nowt and the ongoing Quid-a-Kid are fantastic initiatives at the heart of our Council priorities and mean that all children will be able to enjoy the pool and have fun, and stay active throughout the holidays, and increase their health and wellbeing. I’m delighted that once again, in partnership with Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, we are continuing to offer great value and fun throughout the summer holidays.
