Leisure centre closes for refurbishment works

We are giving users of our facility in Newport-on-Tay advance notice of closure to allow refurbishment works to be carried out.

Working in partnership with Fife Council, we are getting ready to close the doors on Waterstone Crook Sports Centre so that the facility’s sports hall can be re-laid.

The facility will be closed from Monday, 25th December 2017 and re-open on Monday, 15th January 2018. Our staff have already begun informing customers and club users.

Allan Reid, area leisure manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “The Fife Council investment to re-lay the sports hall is great news for our customers and we are looking forward to unveiling the new floor in the New Year.

“Regular customers and club users have already been informed of the closure and we would like to thank them for their patience while contractors carry out the work.”

Cllr Judy Hamilton, Convener of the Community and Housing Services Committee, added: “This investment will ensure good playability for many years to come in the sports hall. I’m pleased that we’ve been able to commit funding beyond initial floor repair work to improve the entire surface for customers using the facility. I look forward to it helping to attract even more local people to use the facility, and in turn get more active, in the New Year. “
