Learn to Race with Olympic Swimmer and 2x Gold Medallist Adam Peaty MBE at Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust is thrilled to announce that it will be hosting the highly anticipated Adam Peaty (AP) Race Clinic at Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre this summer. As the only venue in Scotland and the first stop on his UK tour, the event is a fantastic opportunity for swimmers to learn from the legendary Adam Peaty MBE and his team. The event will take place on Monday, the 7th of August 2023 and is open to confident swimmers aged 8-17 years old.

The AP Race Clinic offers participants a chance to not only refine their swimming techniques but inspire them to take steps onto the pathway of competitive swimming.

Adam Peaty MBE, a 2-time Olympic Gold Medallist in the 100-meter Breaststroke, is currently training for the 2024 Olympics with the goal of securing his third consecutive Gold and etching his name in history as the first person to achieve this remarkable feat. With eight World Championships, sixteen European Championships, and four Commonwealth Championships under his belt, Adam is widely regarded as the most dominant sprint breaststroke swimmer of all time.

With less than a year remaining until Adam's 2024 Olympic campaign, the AP Race Clinics team is embarking on their final tour before the Paris Olympic Games. The Clinic will feature pool training, an inspiring talk by Adam himself and an interactive Q&A session for those taking part. Participants will also have the opportunity to take a photo with Adam and bring along an item of their choice for him to autograph.

In celebration of this event and to inspire our young swimmers, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust has organised an exciting competition for children involved in its Learn to Swim programme. Children are encouraged to design their own Olympic mascot using any art medium. The lucky winner will be invited to attend the talk, meet Adam one-on-one, and have their design transformed into a personalised mini mascot teddy to cherish forever.

The competition closes on the 12th of July and the winner will be announced on the 17th of July. To enter, participants can take a photo of their completed artwork and send it to LearntoSwim@fifeleisure.org.uk. Alternatively, they can tag @FifeLeisure on Twitter or Instagram or send a private message and attach the image via Facebook.

Emma Walker, Chief Executive at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, expressed her excitement about this event: "We are honoured to welcome Adam Peaty and his team to Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre. This is a unique opportunity to receive expert coaching from a true Olympic champion. We hope this experience will motivate participants to take their swimming skills to the next level.

We are also delighted to run our own competition alongside the event. We can’t wait to see what our youngest members create. It is not just about inspiring our young swimmers, but fostering a spirit of support for Adam, as well as the promising Scottish talent as they set their sights on the 2024 Paris Olympic Games."
